We Are In Full Swing

Free Kona Ice and two dollar street tacos!!!!

Hello Rattler Nation!

Wow! What a great week. Administration was able to go into every classroom and meet such amazing students who recognized us from our opening video. The Freshman class is doing amazing and we are so happy to see the rest of the grades and the Seniors! It’s going to be such a great year for them. We were busy at several athletic games as well both home and away. If you don’t see us remember we have two games per sport and we also have to travel to away games all while balancing our own families. We love what we do so we are there as much as we can be. If you see us feel free to introduce yourself. It takes a village to raise and care for our students and we want to make sure you are getting what you need along with your child.

Sick Students:

We have sent a bunch of sick students home in the last two weeks. We know that we don’t want our students to miss school but also it is very important that we don’t spread our sickness to others. Most students say—and we know how this goes—you are going no matter what but within an hour or so they are so sick we have to call you. Please keep your student home if they are ill. Thank you!

Minimum Day:

Our first Minimum Day is September 22, 2023. Please arrange proper pickup. School starts at the same time and ends at 1:30 pm. Students must be picked up promptly as all staff will be in a Professional Development. Thank you!

Nominations: We still need members for SSC!

School Site Council (SSC): This group determines how money in Title 1 and LCFF are spent (money for things that support ALL students). In addition, they have other responsibilities as well. We need three parents and three students. If your child is an English Language Learner, we would LOVE you to join!) If you are on another committee, we politely ask that you allow others to participate. Click here to nominate! (self or others)

SAT and PSAT:

After much dialog the district decided to work with me to hold SAT and PSAT right here at CHHS! This is for our students only and only certain grades have access to certain test. We are grateful to the district for hearing our concerns about student going to great lengths to take the text at another place. Here is the information:

We are here to support you in this! This is very important to learn everything that is happening with your students. Attendance, tardies, schedules, etc are in there. The clerk who can help you is Mrs. Penamoya at rpenamoya@sandi.net

Attendance: To report an absence you can call our office OR you can click the attendance tab at the top of our website and report. The link is here as well:

Mark Your Calendars:

Open House: September 28th, 2023

The Homecoming Dance is September 30th 2023

LCFF forms:

The district has implemented an additional collections strategy for LCFF by using Survey Monkey to offer parents another avenue to complete their LCFF surveys.Emails have started going out to parents from Ron Rode (Director of Research & Evaluation) as of this past Tuesday with a link to complete the LCFF form on Survey Monkey. The system only allows for sending 20K emails a day, so it will take a few days before all parents who still need to complete the survey have been notified.

Grade Level Presentation:

Counselors will be going into classrooms and talking abut all the things your student needs to know for their particular grade level. This of course is incredibly important for seniors as the senior contract and credits etc will be discussed.

Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO https://chrattlers.com/. All athletic packets can be uploaded and handed in this way. You do not need to come in and drop them off.

Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a whole separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and reach out to the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site, so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.

SENIOR PORTRAITS

Counselors:

Counselors are here to help you! Your students ask to see their counselor by going to the CHHS website and clicking on the "Counseling Tab"-then, they click on their counselor to fill out the form. Counselors will then call them to the office. The days when I was in high school, you went to the Counseling Office and waited around are done. This is much more streamlined today. However, in emergencies, you ABSOLUTELY can just come on in. Want to pop in and ask a question during the passing period...of course! Here's what the page looks like:

Booster Clubs are created by each "Class Of" to raise funds to create unforgettable experiences for your students. Items include caps for graduation, prom ticket prices lowered, organizing Grad Night, and having fundraisers to pull this off. They work very hard and need your support. Please go to your student's "Class Of" website and join the registry to stay up to date on all things going on with your student's graduating class.
