Hello Rattler Nation!
We have worked hard this summer to ensure the 2025-2026 school year will be one of the best! With that in mind, I would like to bring you up to speed on some initiatives we’ve implemented to serve better the Canyon Hills students and families, as well as welcome the Class of 2029.
Please see my Welcome Back letter, which contains pivotal information to help you start the new year! Additionally, the office staff list is provided, so you know who to email when seeking information and avoid frustration by emailing everyone. This is the fastest way to get a response. I have a fantastic team that is willing to support you. Take a picture or put it on your fridge.
During the first week of school, your students will be engaged in building their classroom communities. Tuesday through Friday, they will also watch a video on a topic provided by several key figures on campus to gather pertinent information and put a face to a name. Monday, they will view me welcoming them back to school. Topics will include community, safety, and social-emotional health. Those videos will also be posted in the next blog for you to review and discuss with your child.

Packet Pick-Up and Drop-Off: We are under construction!
These are two hectic days, so please be patient with us. If you have a 9th grader, you MUST provide proof of residency.
Pickup is July 28-30th, and we are open from 9 AM to 2 PM.

Parent Portal:
We are here to support you in this! It is essential to stay informed about everything that is happening with your students. Attendance, tardiness, schedules, and other details are included. Please check this daily.
Ninth Grade Bridge:
Bridging is a tradition we created almost a decade ago to welcome students transitioning to ninth grade. Students will meet some teachers, learn about campus locations, and can sign up for clubs and other activities all before the start of the school year. This is a HIGHLY attended event. However, we kindly request that you RSVP to confirm your participation. The bridge is scheduled for August 4th, 2025, and this information was disseminated from middle schools several times before the end of the year. Please register here before the deadline:

Bocce Ball Tournament: DEADLINE: AUGUST 5th, 2025 This is our ONE BIG Fundraiser for the year! You don't even have to form a team (although you still need to register); you have numerous options to come out and support. Please review the details and select the option that best suits your needs. We also encourage alumni to form teams!

Calendar: We always preview the calendar for the upcoming week.

Want to help us keep CHHS a fantastic place to be? There are FOUR ways for you AND your student!
1. Foundation: Parent Group focused on fundraising for our students! Even if you can't donate your time, you can donate by joining as a member. Click here: https://canyonhillsfoundation.org/
2. Class Boosters: Want to know everything going on in your child's graduating class that is an opportunity you don't want to miss out on? Sign up for your Class Booster at the bottom of the Blog, where it will always be accessible each week in that spot, but sign up now so you don't miss anything!
Nominations:
1. School Site Council (SSC): This group determines how money in Title 1 and LCFF are spent (cash for things that support ALL students). In addition, they have other responsibilities as well. We need one parent and three students. If your child is an English Language Learner, we would LOVE you to join!) If you are on another committee, we politely ask that you allow others to participate. Please email YY LIew at yliew@sandi.net
2. Governance: This group discusses and advises the Principal on instructional issues and policies on campus. We are looking for two students and two parents. Please email Nicholas Willis nwillis@sandi.net
Principal's Coffee: What is this? This is a one-and-a-half-hour session with my entire team, including me, where we discuss all things CHHS every month. We then stay and address any questions, rumors, concerns, anxieties, or celebrations you may have. We are here for you! Mark your calendars! This meeting is for the parents of currently attending students only, please.
Please Note: The district has moved to Microsoft Teams. There is no Zoom option unless the meeting is scheduled for 30 minutes or less. Please ensure that if you do not have Microsoft Teams, you download it.
Here is the link for the flyer as well: COFFEE

Counselors:
Counselors are here to help you! Your students ask to see their counselor by going to the CHHS website and clicking on the "Counseling Tab"-then, they click on their counselor to fill out the form. Counselors will then call them to the office. The days when I was in high school, waiting in the Counseling Office, are behind me. This is much more streamlined today. However, in emergencies, you are welcome to come in. "I want to pop in and ask a question during the passing period:" of course! Here's what the page looks like:

Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO https://chrattlers.com/
All athletic packets can be uploaded and handed in this way. We no longer accept them on paper.
Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a separate school altogether. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations, but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you can access it later. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.
Do you need to contact your child's coach?

We can't wait to see you!
