TRYOUTS (If you are not on the coaches list, it is because you did not sign-up in athleticclearance.com)
The first date and time of tryouts will be posted and communicated on chrattlers.com. Head Coach emails addresses are found on chrattlers.com. Dates and times for continued tryouts will be announced by the coach. You will be responsible for listening for this information at the end of each try-out.
If you are on vacation during tryouts? Athletes must contact the Head Varsity Coach and let them know they are interested. This will help us determine the number of players we have for tryouts. Find Head Coach emails on chrattlers.com.
Length of Try Out: Each sport is different and the coach will organize each tryout. The coach will give updates and notice if cuts will be made.
Tryouts & Making the Team: Every team will have tryouts, but not every team will need to make cuts. Making the team depends on many factors: the number of athletes trying out, the skills of the student athletes, the position that the athlete plays, the positive attitude and work ethic of the athlete.
We are looking for dedicated athletes who attend practices, have great attitudes and work hard
Parents, Family, and Friends at Tryouts? Coaches reserve the right to have closed tryouts if there are distractions
How many people make the team? Every Team is different and some have rules for how many athletes can be on a roster. Coaches will have the discretion to set the number of athletes on the roster.
What to bring? What not to bring? Necessary items only. Bring a labeled water bottle. Leave valuables at home, and place everything else in your bag or locker.
What if I just transferred from another High School to Canyon Hills ? If you have not spoken to Coach Pisapia, you must do so as soon as possible. There is paperwork to complete for all transfer students.
What is the GPA requirement to play on a team? All athletes must have a 2.0 GPA in Academics and in Citizenship to be eligible to play in a contest. Students that do not have a 2.0 GPA will not be able to play. Remember, Attendance in class is reflected in the Citizenship Grade for a class.

Community Project in Action!
The Tierrasanta Village of San Diego reached out to our Graphic Design teacher Michael Pedersen to have his students design a new logo for their organization. Four of his third-year graphic design students got to work and designed multiple versions, including a 15th-anniversary logo and variations for social media. (See attached)
The TVSD board expressed how hard it was to choose between the logo submission because they were all so good. They sent out the student entries for a vote among their members and Nina Laxamana’s logo package was chosen. The Board president Marilyn Bente come to Mr. Pedersen's class to thank the students and award Nina a cash prize.
The Graphic Design club produced two banners proudly displayed during the Patriots parade in May.
“I’m very proud of the work that my students do and love that more people are able to see the talent and hard work that my kids possess.” - Michael Pedersen
Nina’s work, photo and more information will appear in the next issue of the Tierrasanta Pulse.
