Students in Action!

Hello Rattler Nation:

I hope everyone has had a wonderful week! This week was less stressful around campus than last, and we are all grateful! As you can see below, our students have been very busy this week, and we had a wonderful Principal's Coffee this morning and you can check it out here:

Computer Graphics Design Pathway: ABOVE IMAGE

Two of my photography students from last year have their work displayed in the Museum of Photographic Arts in Balboa Park. Every year, there is a juried youth competition by MOPA where a panel of photographers and museum curators review student work from K-12 students throughout Tijuana and San Diego county. This year's theme was EXPLORATION. Our two students with work in the exhibition are current senior Jared Mass and sophomore Lana Smith (who unfortunately moved during the summer, which emphasizes her artistic statement about the difficulties of “exploring” new schools, friends, and communities as a military child who frequently moves). Also, class of 2023 graduate Mia Clark was the model for one of the photos. We’ve had almost a dozen students exhibit over the last five or so years from my photography class, and I am so proud of the work they do.

The exhibition is open until April 21st and the admission price is “Pay what you want”.  https://mopa.org/exhibition/

Theater:

We had a great time on Saturday at the La Jolla Playhouse Jump Start Mini-Conference with over 200 middle school students from 6 SDUSD schools. Canyon Hills Theatre students were there to lead groups to 5 different workshops run by LJP teaching artists - acting, dance, voice, costumes, and make-up. The Theatre Club performed the opening number of their upcoming musical, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Running Feb. 22, 23, 24, 29 & March 1 & 2 @7pm). Our students enjoyed sharing their passion for theatre with the next generation of theatre makers, including many students from Tierrasanta's own De Portola!

ROTC:

Congratulations to Jacob Lee--Acceptance to WestPoint Academy! We are so proud of him and of our ROTC instructors for supporting him!

It is extremely difficult to be selected for such a great honor.

Booster Clubs are created by each "Class Of" to raise funds to create unforgettable experiences for your students. Items include caps for graduation, prom ticket prices, organizing Grad Night, and having fundraisers to pull this off. They work very hard and need your support. Please go to your student's "Class Of" website and join the registry to stay up to date on all things going on with your student's graduating class.
