Block Schedule: Parent Letter and FAQ's:
CHHS has drafted a letter to Families, and it is found here:
CCAP Parent Night: This is Mandatory (see more information in the Counseling Section). This is for parents of children taking or planning to take Community College Courses. This meeting makes it easy for you to help your child choose what is best for them when the time comes.

Rattler Awards:
Congratulations to our 9th graders and their Rattler Awards. Students are selected for varying categories and are teacher-driven. They then receive an award in front of their classmates; we bring in a ton of treats for them to give out to all their classmates, and the cheers they had explode into congratulations! Everyone loves treats, so these awardees get to be heroes!

Light On Event through IMIN (our afterschool program):

Lights On Afterschool Fest was a blast! Students had a fantastic time dancing to music, challenging their friends on the obstacle course, kicking it up in bubble soccer, and enjoying tasty snacks! But the most meaningful part? Seeing everyone share laughs, build connections, and create unforgettable memories together.A huge thank you to @sd_nights for partnering with the IMIN Program and helping make this event so special and impactful for our students!
Club Elevate:
Canyon Hills Celebrates Red Ribbon Week!
Canyon Hills High School is proud to celebrate Red Ribbon Week all month long, promoting awareness and prevention around alcohol, tobacco, and other drug misuse.
The celebration kicked off with a presentation for all 9th-grade students, led by the San Diego County Office of Education’s Tobacco Use Prevention Education (TUPE) program. The presentation focused on nicotine and vaping prevention, helping students understand how nicotine affects the developing teen brain and that a single vape pod can contain as much nicotine as an entire pack of cigarettes. Students walked away with key takeaways, including the knowledge that most teens choose to stay substance-free, which we should celebrate! According to the 2024–25 California Healthy Kids Survey, only about 4% of 11th graders in San Diego Unified reported vaping in the past 30 days. This is a powerful reminder that saying “no” is the norm, not the exception.
To build on that message, SAY San Diego’s ELEVATED program partnered with Mr. Moller’s art classes to create a colorful “Chalk the Walk” display filled with positive messages and creative visuals supporting Red Ribbon Week. Students covered the walkway of the 1000 building with inspiring quotes such as “Stay Focused, Stay Drug-Free,” “Keep Your Brain Fresh,” and “Most CHHS Choose to Stay Drug-Free.”
These vibrant visuals set the stage for a fun and meaningful lunchtime event, co-hosted by Club ELEVATED and the Friday Night Live program of the San Diego County Office of Education. Together, students celebrated healthy choices, community connection, and the importance of living drug-free.
The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time:
WOW! Everyone is talking about this play and also wearing the T-shirt. The audience was glued to their seats, and it was an outstanding performance by our actors, tech designers, and builders. You still have an opportunity to see it tonight and tomorrow. The flyer is in the Calendar Section.
Halloween:
It's Time! We are about to have so much fun! However, there are safety and security guardrails for this. Check it out:

The Holidays are Coming, and so are tax write-offs!

Saturday School is Back: If you have absences, you are required to attend the Saturday School sessions.
HOW IT WORKS: There is a link with a date (see below). The link opens on WEDNESDAY before Saturday. It begins on that day because we need to staff it appropriately. Years ago, we opened it on Mondays, and many students signed up, but they never showed up. Then the staff showed up, and we had to send them home.
If you do not maintain proper attendance, you will start losing privileges if your attendance is not recorded correctly and cleared. Sign up below to view the following dates and mark your calendar.
School Accountability Reportcard:
Attached is our SARC (School Accountability Report Card).
Public schools throughout California are required to provide information about themselves to the community through an annual School Accountability Report Card (SARC). These report cards provide a range of data to help the public evaluate and compare schools across several vital areas.
ColorGuard:
We won the North County Invitational Class 2A Auxiliary!!! Congratulations.

Counseling:

The CHHS Counselor Connection is your one-stop newsletter for important updates, deadlines, and opportunities at CHHS. Each issue includes:
Key dates (progress reports, field trips, workshops, etc.)
Grade-level announcements (college visits, presentations, resources)
Counseling and wellness updates to help you succeed
Recently, UCSD admissions presented to our seniors about campus life, admissions, deadlines, and important application guidelines. We have more colleges ready to meet and contribute to our seniors. To attend these presentations, Seniors must sign in using the Google form listed on the CHHS Counseling Connection Page.

Additionally, we are pleased to announce a district-wide FAFSA event on Saturday, November 15, from 9 AM to 12 PM in our school's Media Center. We encourage all students and parents to attend for assistance in completing the FAFSA/CADAA application for college tuition.
Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION- chrattlers.com
Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a separate school altogether. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations, but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.
The AW Weekly: This lets you know about all the home games happening around campus, so your students can get involved, whether cheering on their friends or participating directly. Your family can also come out and support you.
