Hello Rattler Nation,
In celbration for LatinX/E Hertiage Month our students were specifically invited to the district office with the press and other to raise the flag on behalf of all the students in SDUSD. They were an easy selection based on the amazing work they are doing in their and our community and the real change happening. This is all through our Cesar Chavez Serice club under the advisement Of our Counselor Mr. Gonzales. Four years ago, we had five students post covid. We now have well over 50. They give up weekends and nights serving their and our community, which is not going unnoticed.
Mr. Moller's Art class is producing the most powerful student art I have seen at any school.
The sketch above is from DeliIah Rosas. I know her, and she is fantastic. She is also a Cheerleader! I was so mesmerized by this that I had to have it in my office. He is having an art show in the lobby of the theater when our play is being performed. You will be able to see it first-hand! Buy your tickets to the play below!
Progress Report Grades were stored and you can view them in Parent Portal. You also can view your student's attendance and tardies etc. Saturday School link is below if your child needs to make up these things so they can go!
We are so proud to announce that 87% of our Freshman Class are above a 2.0! That is thanks to their hard work and the support from Mrs. Skinner and Mr. Willis. We also gave out Rattler Awards to three freshmen and let them pass out treats to their class!
Check them out!
NOTE: This Friday is a NON-Instructional Day. What does that mean for you?
There is no school, please enjoy!
There is no school for teachers, they get to enjoy it as well.
CHHS Admin will be working so reach out if you have any questions.
Our Olympian Returns:
Meghan Valzonis returned from Paris with a huge welcome from us here at the school. We retired her Serra high jersey and she signed things and we are so proud of her and she is a role model to our students on the team who are also dominating!
Counseling has a lot going on right now because the articulation process has started as the move up in the calendar has us doing this even earlier. Articulation is the process of collecting everything we need to start to build a master schedule for next year. we need to get the most accurate data possible to hire the right staff. We also need to allow for changes through the second semester if minds have been changed. Once we hire staff the schedule is very difficult to make changes. Over the next month or two Counselors will be doing class talks, 1:1 meetings, presenting at the Middle Schools, etc. Also, they are offering a ton of things like College support. Please check their section out every time you read this.
Associate Student Body (ASB) Updates:

Calendar:

Tuesday: Nothing

Thursday: Early Out
Fri-YAY!
Saturday School is Back: Homecoming is at stake.
Students with absences and tardies must make them up in Saturday school. Failure to do that starts excluding them from things like Homecoming, Prom, Senior Activities, etc. FIRST SEMESTER ABSENCES AND TARDIES carry over to Semester 2, so they need to get made up now. Teachers are giving a huge amount of leniency for late students due to construction; however, if your child still has a tardy, I would start to discuss with them why everyone else can get there, but your students still can't even with all the grace given.
Saturday School Signups are here:
The form opens on Wednesdays and closes on Fridays so we can staff it appropriately. It also does not happen every Saturday, but when it does, I'll put the link in here. Please remind your child that if it's a Wednesday, they should check to see if there is Saturday school and sign up.
Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO https://chrattlers.com/.
Athletics is a very complex program—it's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state. We post an athletic weekly every week right here, and it is ONLY for home games.
A Weekly is unavailable this week so please check MaxPreps! We are back next week!
We have a new Girls Soccer coach and she may look familiar!
Canyon Hills High School is excited to introduce our new Girls Head Soccer Coach, Janae French. She brings over a decade of coaching experience to our program. Growing up she developed a passion for soccer which has shaped her life both on and off the field. She played competitively throughout her youth and college years, which instilled in her a deep appreciation for teamwork, dedication, and sportsmanship.
She began her coaching journey in high school, and over the past 12 years, has had the privilege of coaching at various levels—from recreational and club teams to middle school and high school. Most recently, she served as the JV girls soccer coach here at Canyon Hills, where she witnessed firsthand the talent and potential of our student-athletes. She has also coached players who have gone on to compete at the national team level in Guam and at the D2 college level, which has reinforced her commitment to developing well-rounded athletes.
As she steps into this new role, her primary goal is to foster a positive culture for women's soccer at Canyon Hills and within our community. She believes in the importance of creating a strong pre-season and post-season training plan that not only prepares our team for success on the field but also lays the groundwork for future years to come.
Her vision for this program is to cultivate a winning culture rooted in good sportsmanship, respect, and camaraderie. She is dedicated to developing her players not just as athletes, but as individuals who embody the values of teamwork, resilience, and leadership.
She is excited for the journey ahead and can’t wait to work with our talented athletes, supportive families, and the entire school community. Together, we will strive for excellence and make this season one to remember!
