Hello Rattler Nation,
Homecoming is HERE! We are so excited for this week as many activities are going on. Spirit Week is this week, and the above image was all over our social media!
Movie Night:
Movie Night is tomorrow right here at the School. The movie because the dance is Disney Themed is Monstaers Inc so it is family friendly. The Movie starts at 6pm right in front of the 1000 building. Clubs will be selling food and snacks. Bring your blanket and enjoy.
Last Week:
Mr. Villanueva was celebrated with an award from the district for his relationship with students to build a successful Video Production Program. He was so blown away by the sentiment and the students were quick to take a photo with him.
Dracula was a huge success. The Theater was packed. Did you know nine years ago, when I started, that maybe half the theater was filled? Mr. Blokker was hired from SPCA (Performing Arts High School) and the plays were relevant and realistic about todays society. Mr. Blokker went on to do Theater at a higher level and so Ms. Catalupo (also from SCPA) came on board and WOW! We have come such a long way in our VAPA Department. It was a goal of mine to not only add more courses but also to hire the proper staff to collaborate with our students. Check out the photos:
Arts Collaboration:
Mr. Moller, our art teacher, has also started collaborating with the theater to create lobby artwork for the play. The student work was a fantastic addition:
SDSU Latina Success Conference:
Rosemary, our Chavista Present, was invited to speak at SDSU's LSC. She was nervous but was unapologetically herself and blew away the packed event. We are so proud of her and her finding her voice.
Articulation Night: Freshman-Juniors Currently enrolled
A reminder that parents should attend Parent Articulation night on Wednesday, 10/23 @ 6 in the Media Center
Incoming Ninth Grade Articulation Night was a Huge Success:
The room was packed, and parents got to ask questions and meet many of the staff!
CCAP Community College Parent Night:
If your student is taking a College Class, this is required. There are many ins and outs of this program, and we find that many parents do not understand when the classes get going about their role in the process. This is very important as these grades go on transcripts.
Calendar: THIS IS MONDAY-SATURDAY!
Monday: Nothing
Tuesday: The School Governance Team is in the morning, and Movie Night is at 6 pm.
Wednesday: Sophomore-Senior Parent Articulation Night
Thursday: Last Day to buy Homecoming Tickets: IMIN has an event right after school to celebrate the IMIN program, and it is our Early Out Day
Friday: Homecoming Game: Get your ticket below and Pep Rally!
Saturday: Homecoming Dance: 7pm-10pm
Saturday School is Back: Homecoming is at stake.
Students with absences and tardies must make them up in Saturday school. Failure to do that starts excluding them from things like Homecoming, Prom, Senior Activities, etc. FIRST SEMESTER ABSENCES AND TARDIES carry over to Semester 2, so they must be made up now. Teachers are lenient for late students due to construction; however, if your child is still tardy, please discuss why everyone else can get there but your students still can't, even with all the grace given.
Saturday School Signups are here:
Associate Student Body (ASB) Updates:
Counseling :
Please ask each AP student of yours if they received the AP email; they need to check their personal and school email. Their email has been created explicitly for them and what they must do before the November 1 deadline to complete all steps. There are links for everything the students may need to complete the process.
Please ask your students not to ignore emails from Rachel Amato!
Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO https://chrattlers.com/.
Athletics is a very complex program—it's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state. We post an athletic weekly every week right here, and it is ONLY for home games.
Girls Tennis Senior Night:
These three amazing women were celebrated this week at Senior Night. This is the power of Athletics. They are focused, organized, and have high GPAs. We couldn't be more proud.
Girls Field Hocket was a great game to watch right after Tennis and while we lost the girls gave it all they had. We are proud of them as well.
