Hello Rattler Nation!
We had a week full of excellent instruction, prepping for Homecoming, class presentations from the Counseling Department, and music at lunch today! Above is Mr. Ross' Physics class, where students worked on building their own city and providing electricity to it! It's always a favorite of the students and staff, as we always ensure we are there when they light it up! Here are some more pictures.
Homecoming!
Saturday School: Saturday School Starts tomorrow...but what is it?
Saturday School is how your student clears absences and tardies. Should they accumulate them, this is the only way to remove them and impact differing sporting events and school events. If your students want to be able to participate and they have absences and tardies, they need to attend. The form opens up and closes at noon on Friday before Saturday School. We close them so we can staff them accordingly. You can see the form and sign up here:
Class Presentations were tremendous; all the students were engaged and paid attention to what they needed to know. Some of this will also be reviewed with you at our upcoming Parent Nights this week. All students were provided a student contract. Students and parents must review and sign.

SAT and PSAT:
After much dialog, the district decided to work with me to hold the SAT and PSAT right here at CHHS! This is for our students only and only certain grades have access to certain tests. We are grateful to the district for hearing our concerns about students going to great lengths to take the text to another place. Here is the information:

LCFF forms:
The district has implemented an additional collections strategy for LCFF by using Survey Monkey to offer parents another avenue to complete their LCFF surveys.Emails have started going out to parents from Ron Rode (Director of Research & Evaluation) as of this past Tuesday with a link to complete the LCFF form on Survey Monkey. The system only allows for sending 20K emails a day, so it will take a few days before all parents who still need to complete the survey have been notified.
Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO https://chrattlers.com/. All athletic packets can be uploaded and handed in this way. You do not need to come in and drop them off.
Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a whole separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and reach out to the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site, so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.
Congratulations to the JV Field Hockey Team and their win in the Berger JV Field Hockey Tournament last Saturday!
Canyon Hills Boys Cross Country Won the Frosh/Soph Championship last Saturday at Rohr Park in Chula Vista.
This Saturday is the Berger Varsity Field Hockey Tournament at Canyon Hills High School. Game will be held all day.

Counselors:
Counselors are here to help you! Your students ask to see their counselor by going to the CHHS website and clicking on the "Counseling Tab"-then, they click on their counselor to fill out the form. Counselors will then call them to the office. The days when I was in high school, you went to the Counseling Office and waited around are done. This is much more streamlined today. However, in emergencies, you ABSOLUTELY can just come on in. Want to pop in and ask a question during the passing period...of course! Here's what the page looks like:
Booster Clubs are created by each "Class Of" to raise funds to create unforgettable experiences for your students. Items include caps for graduation, prom ticket prices lowered, organizing Grad Night, and having fundraisers to pull this off. They work very hard and need your support. Please go to your student's "Class Of" website and join the registry to stay up to date on all things going on with your student's graduating class.
