Dracula is Here, Class of 2029, and Great California Shakeout!

Hello Rattler Nation,

We hope you had a great week. It seemed slower because so many games were away this week, but we were still busy at other places. Principals Coffee was great this morning, and the presentation can be found here: Principal's Coffee

The link for PC is always on the school calendar, and I try to send a reminder the night before.

Dracula is Here:

Did you know our plays sell out? Everyone goes, and you should too! The flyer is our featured image so that you can get your tickets beforehand. Performances are Thursday through Saturday this week!

Great California Shakeout! This week is the week! We have to prepare just in case!

Chavistas, Black Student Union Collaborate with Hoover High School:

Today was a great day for students to come together with each other and another high school! Today, groups came together and invited Hoover High School Mariachi Band to come (There are 30 plus students in it). They put on quite the performance at lunch, which excited students on campus.

Class of 2029 Parent Meeting:

It is hard to believe that the Class of 2029 will start here next year! We have been going to the schools and presenting and are also returning this week to meet 1:1 with the students. We also had a very well-attended Parent night, even with the Padres Game happening. If you couldn't make it, no worries, as here is the presentation: Class of 2029.

Calendar: THIS IS MONDAY-SATURDAY!

Monday: Nothing

Tuesday: SSC meeting

Wednesday: Nothing

Thursday: Sr. Yearbook Photos on campus; Dracula Play at 7 pm

Friday: Club Rush at lunch and Dracula at 7 pm

Saturday: Sat School and Dracula again

Saturday School is Back: Homecoming is at stake.

Students with absences and tardies must make them up in Saturday school. Failure to do that starts excluding them from things like Homecoming, Prom, Senior Activities, etc. FIRST SEMESTER ABSENCES AND TARDIES carry over to Semester 2, so they must be made up now. Teachers are lenient for late students due to construction; however, if your child is still tardy, please discuss why everyone else can get there but your students still can't, even with all the grace given.

Saturday School Signups are here:

Counseling has a lot going on right now because the articulation process has started, and the move up in the calendar has us doing this even earlier. Articulation is collecting everything we need to build a master schedule for next year.

They are doing 1:1 visits with students at the Middle Schools this upcoming week.

Please ask each AP student of yours if they received the AP email; they need to check their personal and school email.  Their email has been created explicitly for them and what they must do before the November 1 deadline to complete all steps.  There are links for everything the students may need to complete the process.

Please ask your students not to ignore emails from Rachel Amato!

Miramar College presents CCAP Family Night:

Earn College Credit While in High School! Did you know your CHHS student can sign up for Miramar College courses and take them at Canyon Hills during school? It’s called the CCAP program. This allows your student to start college courses early, discover what taking a college course feels like, and take a step toward their future.

Families and students are invited to our CCAP Family Night, where they can learn about the CCAP program opportunities and hear from former CCAP students‘ experiences.

Free food & Miramar giveaways will be provided!

When: Tuesday, October 15, from 6 pm-7 pm

Where: Canyon Hills HS Media Center

ROTC:

They are so busy I can't keep up, and they help at almost all the 92124 events. They also do cool things. Their newsletter is attached here: Newsletter

Here is one page of everything they are up to:

SAY San Diego: Club Elevate is very busy!

Youth leaders from SAY San Diego's North Central Youth Collaborative representing Canyon Hills and Mission Bay had the opportunity to attend the annual Red Ribbon Luncheon where they got to hear from Judge Enrique Camarena, San Diego Police Chief Scott Walh, and District Attorney Summer Stephan as they shared about their work in substance abuse prevention efforts aimed at building a safe and healthy San Diego.  Students left feeling inspired and motivated to continue their prevention efforts at their schools and communities.

Associate Student Body (ASB) Updates:

Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO https://chrattlers.com/.

Athletics is a very complex programit's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state. We post an athletic weekly every week right here, and it is ONLY for home games.
