Hello Rattler Nation,
Happy Veterans Day weekend. We want to take a moment to thank all our veterans, servicemen, and women and acknowledge the families supporting them. Everyone in the family unit gives up something for their loved ones to protect our country. My father served 37 years in the military, and every man before him did. I understand firsthand the commitment that it takes from everyone.

Federal Survey Cards: FSC:
Federal Survey Cards can now be filled out online on PowerSchool. I want parents to complete the Federal Survey Form.
Dear Parents:
The federal survey form is now available for you to complete online on the Parent Portal. Click HERE for the Link. If you are asking why, you should fill out this form. Please know that these funds are designated to assist our district, which has federally connected students. Many of our students (Canyon Hills) are federally connected based on where they live or where their parents work. This form becomes part of the district’s general operating budget and supports instructional activities for ALL STUDENTS.
If you have any questions about the form or how to access the parent portal, please contact Ms. Rosa at rpenamoya@sandi.net or 619-605-8100 ext. 3029. Thank you in advance for your support. We will also follow up via email and phone to ensure a high percentage of connections.
Sincerely,
CHHS Administration
Rattler Awards: We celebrated three students who are crushing it in the 9th grade in various ways. They received a certificate and picture and were able to give a treat to all of their classmates!
Did You Know Last Week Was National Red Ribbon Week?
Red Ribbon Week is a great opportunity to start a conversation with teens about the dangers of alcohol and drug use. Red Ribbon Week is focused on raising awareness about the impact of drugs and promoting drug-free lifestyles. The visibility of Red Ribbon Week in schools and communities can help open up a dialogue that might otherwise feel difficult to begin.
In honor of Red Ribbon Week, the 9th grade students had the opportunity to attend the, "I Choose My Future" presentation led by Club ELEVATED and provided by the San Diego County Office of Education. Topics included education around the science of addiction, the impact drugs can have on the teen brain development, how to identify potentially harmful drugs as well as a closer look at the dangers of vaping, marijuana, and nicotine.
Student Champions and more Senior Nights: WOW, CHHS dominated this week in so many areas. Check it out:
Girls Single Tennis:
Hannah, our excellent Tennis Player, played in the CIF finals for singles this afternoon, and it was awesome to watch. It was close, but she came in second. Her competitor was her doubles partner. We are proud of her and her commitment to take us to finals!
Flag Football had Senior Night, and it was amazing to watch the seniors be celebrated. We have only been doing Flag Football for two seasons, as it's a new sport for us, and our girls have not been disappointed yet.
CHHS Band and Colorguard are blowing the competitions away one weekend at a time!
CHHS Crimson Regiment took 1st place at the Eastlake Field Tournament on 11/7!
They also took 2nd place the weekend before!

Saturday School is Back: November 16th, 2024, is next.
Students with absences and tardies must make them up in Saturday school. Failure to do that starts excluding them from things like Homecoming, Prom, Senior Activities, etc. FIRST SEMESTER ABSENCES AND TARDIES carry over to Semester 2, so they must be made up now. Teachers are lenient for late students due to construction; however, if your child is still tardy, please discuss why everyone else can get there but your students still can't, even with all the grace given.
Saturday School Signups are here:
Counseling :
On Tuesday, November 5th, counselors will present in all classes in English for articulation and meet with students one-on-one on November 13th for the class of 2026. If you missed the meeting with counselors, they will call you for the one-on-one meeting. ASVAB is Friday, November 15th, at 8:45 in the media center! Starting on November 4th, there will be a sign-up sheet.
Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO https://chrattlers.com/.
Athletics is a very complex program—it's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state. We post an athletic weekly every week right here, and it is ONLY for home games. CORRECTION: CIF Girls Volleyball has advanced to the Semi-Finals at Lincoln High School. Tickets are on gofan.com
