Athletics Wins; Events at CHHS Beginning!

Hello Canyon Hills Rattlers!

Last week went really well and everyone, students and teachers alike, are starting to get into the groove of procedures, protocols, and the fun of being back together again. We also won our very first football games as CHHS--what a great way to end the week! And then on Saturday, our JV Field Hockey team won the championship defeating La Jolla, 4-0 in the final game of our own tournament! Great job! In other news... We have a "What I Wish My Parents Knew" event coming up so scroll down to see that--this is a wonderful event for parents. We hope you will attend.

Now that we are Canyon Hills, we have a new Athletic Page--goodbye to goconquistadors.com and welcome chrattlers.com. Speaking again of Athletics, the above picture is our "Study Table"--it's our football Coach Harris' belief that academic and Athletics are equally important and grades need to be up to par and above the minimum requirement. So he enacted Study Table for our football players. I couldn't have been more proud to see this and I know it's going to have a huge impact for years to come.

And finally, we know that you are concerned that some teachers we have hired to teach at CHHS have not yet shown up. We are also very concerned and we agree that students in the media center or theater without teachers is not ideal. At all. The district is processing these teachers and we have been told they will arrive this week. Thank you for your patience--our school is not the only one waiting for teachers and substitutes are sparse, too. Our admin is going to try to help fill in this week until the teachers arrive. We appreciate your patience.

Do you have a Senior? Well CHHS has a Booster Club so you can stay up to date on things and events pertaining to them:

The Canyon Hills Parent Class Boosters is a parent organization that supports your student's graduating class (22, 23, 24, 25) with activities and events not typically sponsored by the school. As your student approaches senior year, through fundraising and donations, this group helps offset the cost and implement activities like grad-night, senior luncheon, graduation venue, powder-puff, and more. Let's connect so your student can have a great senior year!! https://sites.google.com/view/serraclassboosters/home

Here is the Senior Boosters first event:

Calendar: I always take a screenshot as seen below and review it. There is nothing this week other than Athletics so please go to chrattlers.com to find out about all things sports.

Skateboards/Bikes/Scooters

Canyon Hills promotes all methods of transportation to school. However, to promote safety of all, we have a culture and climate where all of those items are locked up during the day. Teachers do not house them in classrooms because we have several bike racks and a skateboard and scooter rack. The bike rack is located by the 700 and 800 buildings and the skateboard and scooter rack is in the 200 building. We already have students abusing the use of these modes of transportation, and we are not in the business of getting into arguments over them. If your child brings these items to school, they are expected to lock them up in the proper place. Please speak to your child about the expectation and provide them a lock.

Should a power struggle occur, your child's item will be taken and it will be on them to come home and tell you why they don't have it, and the parent or guardian's responsibility to come and pick up the item. Thank you for your support on this issue.

Want to help us keep CHHS an amazing place to be? Nominations are being taken now for...

School Site Council (SSC): This group determines how money in Title 1 and LCFF are spent (money for things that support ALL students). In addition, there other responsibilities as well. We need TWO parents and TWO students. Email Nicholas Willis at nwillis@sandi.net if you or your student is interested. If you are on another committee we politely ask that you allow others to be able to participate.

CHHS Athletics

ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO CHRATTLERS.com (new website)!

All athletic packets can be uploaded and handed in this way. You do not need to come in and drop them off.

Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a whole separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and reach out to the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the largest programs in the county and state.

SAY SAN DIEGO EVENT:

Please remind your students that school begins at 845 AM--be on time! We can't wait to spend another week with you!
