Veteran's Day and More!

Updated: Apr 20, 2021

Happy Friday Serra High!

First and foremost we want to thank all those in our community and beyond a Happy Veteran's Day and thank you to all those that have served and those that are currently serving. You make us proud. My father served 37 years and I know the commitment from both those that serve, and those that are their families. We appreciate you.

There is no school this Wednesday in accordance with the holiday and therefore no Taking Care of Business Day on Wednesday as Serra will be closed.

We had an amazing Principals Coffee this morning and if you missed it here is the presentation for you to look at: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1F9GLb73VPkVqWAzRGBfVWhPDlJBftcMMC6SgGQ6Tlec/edit?usp=sharing

It covers a lot so please take a look.

PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE BLOG--NEW ITEMS IN COUNSELING, ATHLETICS AND $$$$$BOOSTERS$$$$$$ ETC!!! ALL CLASSES NOW HAVE REPRESENTATIVES!!! See last section

This past week, our student members of the Elevated Club collaborated to make a Red Ribbon Week presentation on the platform Artsteps, which is a site to create virtual art galleries. This presentation provides information about positive peer influences and coping mechanisms, substance abuse recovery stories, and mental health resources. CLUBS: THEY ARE UP AND RUNNING!

Grading Policy:

SDUSD adopted an anti-racist grading policy. This policy is to be rolled out over the next 2 years. Serra High School already had this policy and we are the only one in Unified to do so at this point. We did this work 2 years ago after extensive research and professional development. Please refer to the student handbook for the policy. Most questions are around late work. Opportunities for redemption and remediation have always been a part of our policy. However there are deadlines. Those deadlines are before report periods. You can not in June say you would like to do assignments from October as you have already been issued a grade at the semester. Please follow the policy that is in the handbook. Nothing based on what the district has adopted changes our policy. It does however affect almost every other school in SDUSD because they are not doing what we have.
