TOP of the Class of 2025, and we are in full swing until Graduation! Purple Star School Award.

Writer: Dr. RenfreeDr. Renfree

Hello Rattler Nation--

What a busy week we had for four days. We finished lip dub; we met to solidify the budget with serval groups on campus (we faced cuts as a site due to the SDUSD budget deficit. However, I have accumulated many grants to cover what we need and keep this status quo with some improvements. That's great news for us! Sites other than ours were not so lucky. Budgetary cuts look like teachers, custodial, less health office time, and clerks, but they also look like tangible items. We are maintaining what we have to support our students first and adults second. Students took the PSAT in Grade 10, and many took us up on that opportunity this week.

Ninth Grade Seminar: We had our 9th graders come in for their Seminar. They talked about finishing the year and calculating GPR again and having them do these things in the Seminar:

Spirit Week for Spring Fling is next Friday! Does your student have their outfits????

California Purple Star Designated Schools: Canyon Hills is on the list!

The State of California every year publishes statewide its list of schools that meet a series of criteria related to supports for Military Families. We made the list and so did a few other schools in our cluster!

Principals Coffee: We had a great one, but I realize that because of how the calendar works, it might not have been on people's radar. Don't worry; we figured out how to film it.

Check it out. There is ALOT

Recording:

Sports Banquets for Winter are starting to be discussed and scheduled, and we are at a snail's pace for Spring because of all the much-needed rain we are having right now.

Valedictorian and Salutatorian: Congrats!!!!! Pictures above and on the marquis.

A HUGE event happened today. We went into the classes of our Valedictorians and Salutatorians. We started this tradition a while back, pre-COVID. Usually, they get very embarrassed, and their classmates go crazy for them.

VAL-Noah Webb

SAL-Natalye Debus and Kianna Shakespeare (Kiana was out for a few days, so we had her friends send her a video of us so she wasn't left out!)

IMIN After and Before School Programs:

I talk a lot about our after and before-school programs, and I always hear things like, "I didn't know you had that?" I want to ensure you know there are many things here to do for students and make them feel connected. We also have experiences for students such as field trips, people in the industry, driver ed., and more. PLEASE look at this site and check it out. We are also working on balancing things for the AM because of athletes, etc, since they are away at games and other students have jobs. Below is a picture of only one part of the front page.

FAFSA/Dream ACT

San Diego Unified School District hosts workshops to help students complete the FAFSA/Dream Act Applications.  The FAFSA/DREAM ACT is a free government form that students can use to apply for college or career school financial aid. The FAFSA can help students determine eligibility for grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and loans. Workshops provide one-on-one assistance and guidance. Students can pre-register to guarantee one-on-one guidance, but walk-ins are also welcomed.

Scholarships:  We also always have all or other scholarships posted under counseling on our website, and you can see that here:https://canyonhillsrattlers.wixsite.com/website-4

Athletics:

Athletics is a very complex programit's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.
