Top 3 and Spirit Time!

Happy Friday Serra High!

We had a great week moving to 4 days. Kids are following orders and its going smoothly. We are attending athletic events every night and are discussions. We have a ton going on so please read this in its entirety. Monday is SPIRIT Day so you dress in half business (on top) and bottoms are an at home look!

The best part of this week was surprising our top 3 seniors. We have TWO Valedictorians and ONE Salutatorian. Check out the videos here....we even went to their houses! Congratulations to Kevin Do, Kyla Gary as Valedictorians and Nyah Clovis as our Salutatorian. We could be prouder!

Kevins Do's surprise!

Kyla Gary Surprise!

Nyah Clovis Surprise!

Please check your boosters/Class of's at the bottom as many things are going on that you can participate in that also helps the school!

Sending Kids to School Sick:

Please do not send your children to school if they are sick. Kids need to stay home if they do not feel well in anyway. Thank you.

Student Schedules for the Fall:

Students have access to look at their course requests in PowerSchool right now for the Fall! Please have your child go to their student email where there is a form they can fill out to make changes. Do not email counselors---fill out the form please. In addition, with all this lead time for your child's schedule there will be no changes in the Fall. Please also encourage them to check their student email regularly.

A huge thank you to all the parents as you all are crushing it making sure your kids are here four days a week! Its going great! If you want to go to online you may do so but you need to notify your counselor. Once you go to online you can not return. We are now stable in our numbers and are at capacity in some classes. Teachers are very happy to have students in their rooms.

During the first week of May (5/3-5/7) we will be hosting a Virtual College Signing Day Spirit Week to celebrate our graduating seniors who have made the commitment to their post-secondary goals after high school. We will recognize students who plan to attend any college, university, community college, going directly into the workforce, enlisting in the military, or joining an apprenticeship, vocational or training program. Our goal is to celebrate our diverse student body! Please help us out by completing this short survey:

(Please make sure to use your school email account) If you would like to have your picture included in our virtual college signing day recognizing your achievements please upload a picture on the google survey. We will be posting our seniors spirit week pictures throughout the week on the Serra Instagram page. Please tag us in your post @juniperoshs and make sure to use hashtag: #shs#collegesigningday We are so proud of you! Graduation:

Serra High has secured Petco Park for Graduation. We as a school got the very best day and time slot available. All senior parents received the information in a separate email that was sent out this week, The graduation is June 14th, 2021 at Petco Park at 1130. All families will be allowed 4 tickets--there are only 4. Please also see our Graduation website by clicking here:

SDUSD has followed the health and safety guidelines throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the current health and safety guidelines for the red and orange tiers outlined in the California Department of Public Health and San Diego Public Health ordinances and guidance for COVID-19 regarding capacity limitations for indoor and outdoor events, proms are highly unlikely for the class of 2021.

The very nature of prom events with dancing, students in close proximity to each other, the increase of aerosols in the area, and the large congregation of students before and after the event contributed to this decision.

Could this change by June? Maybe. And if it does, we will have prom. It would be on campus and outdoors. In the meantime our Senior class leadership is working to re-imagine an event that we could safely and lawfully provide to students. We’ve been directed to use the state’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, to instruct us on how we could proceed.
