Semester 2 is starting and this is a chance to recommit to make sure you are holding all staff at SHS accountable and also yourself. If you have been unhappy with something occurring in your child's classroom then please reach out to the teacher and ask for a phone conference or meeting. We as administrators (while we are in the classroom) don't know everything that goes on however please cc' us on the email so we know you have reached out to the teacher so that we may follow up in case a resolution is not reached!
What great week we had. Student were on time and prepared for finals and did amazing! We had lot of positive press with the news this week and also had principal's coffee and 4 basketball games on Friday! A lot was going on. Also we have NEW Serra gear! Wednesday January 30th, 2019 is a BIG Day!!!! All current student's parents are invited to attend the 9th-11th grade parent night where we talk about all things scheduling for next year. What courses will be available for my child? What college and AP courses are being offered? What can we expect through the process?

Instruction Spotlight!:
We are ready for Semester 2 and will be reviewing all grades given and also grades on the finals to see which students were what I call "in the sphere of success" and which were not and what are we going to do about it. Also we will be meeting with teachers 1:1 in order to help them strategize ideas!!!!
Athletics:
SPRING SPORTS ARE HERE in a week! CHECK MAX PREPS!A great way to spend your evenings is with SHS Athletics and our amazing events. There are so many that we have our own website devoted to just this topic. An athletes' first step if they are acting in a manner unbecoming of Serra is that Athletics is taken away for the season! Counseling:
1/30 9th-11th grade Parent Night at 6pm in the Media Center
Learn about articulation process and grade level course descriptions offered for the 2019-2020 school year.
2/12 FAFSA DAY!!!!! All day in the Media Center. All seniors will have the opportunity to attend a FAFSA workshop during their government/Econ or Poli Sci class to complete and submit their FAFSA if they haven’t already done so. CalSoap will be bringing their team to help students with their FAFSA application and help them with any questions or concerns.

If seniors are interested in attending Miramar/City/Mesa Community College next fall then they must attend four sessions to complete enrollment and get priority registration for fall 2019. The sessions are as follow:

Booster Information--Class of 2019: At our recent meeting we talked about how we can support one another, making the Class of 2019's last year at Serra the best year. We decided to divide and conquer with SHS footing the bill for Graduation at USD and Boosters supporting events along the way including GRAD Night. We are so grateful to the Boosters.
