Hello Rattler Nation---

We just completed Friday, so we have 17 days to go until the end of the year. The year moving up has sent us into a whirlwind. We have learned a lot about organizing better, particularly now. We had 7 weeks for significant events, and we have 4. Things are happening earlier and earlier, keeping us on our toes! Your students have also mentioned this. They agree it went by fast, with only days to go, not months.

We had a wonderful Principal's Coffee this week, and you can see the presentation HERE

You can also watch the recording HERE

This blog will feature everything we know about the month, and each week, as events occur, we will edit out those events. This makes it easy to plan and ensure we understand what's going on next week and in the weeks leading up to the last day of school.

Let's look at highlights from this week:

Spring Showcase: Pathway Graduation and Chord Recognition: Above at the top, and here:

We had a great Showcase night and try to improve every year. Seniors committed to their Pathway throughout receive their first graduation chord here. Sports and clubs came out and sold food, and our teachers were here to ask about all the cool things they are doing in their content areas.

We are so proud of our completers.

Powderpuff: Seniors Won!

VIP Award goes to Snedden and Caylor!

Flag Football Banquet:

Long overdue, and well deserved. Our Girls' Flag Football Team had their banquet where awards were given out, good food was had, and decorations created a fun atmosphere, along with gift baskets and special books and necklaces for the Seniors. Check it out!

Mr. V's class in Video Production:

Did you know our students are responsible for many things for SDUSD, not just Canyon Hills? They do a lot of audio and lighting for events around the county. This past week, they provided all of that and more for the CIF Honor Banquet, where top athletes come together to celebrate one another and their schools.

DID YOU KNOW? Our Pathway, students, and teacher won a high award and will receive it in a week or so.

Mr. V and his program are invited to attend CFF's 22nd Annual "Innovation in Education Awards" on Thursday, May 15, 2025, from 4-8 pm at SeaWorld San Diego. We look forward to recognizing your program for its accomplishments to help students gain valuable hands-on experience and career pathway opportunities in multimedia. Congratulations, Video Production!

Trade Job Fair:

We had a very well-attended job fair for trades. Our students take many paths to post-secondary education, and this is one of them. It was highly attended, and great community partners came and talked to kids about their businesses and got jobs on the spot.

Academic League: Students vs. Staff

We had a massive turnout for students vs. Staff AL. I was able to watch, and Mr. Willis and I did not participate, and it was a good thing we didn't. The questions were so hard that not only did we struggle, but many did. Then I was told those were 9th-grade AL questions. I was depressed, and so was the staff. It was great to see the staff come out and support the event.

VAPA Spotlight Awards:

CHHS again and every year represent the county in winning so many awards for Visual and Performing Arts. He didnt this appoint this year and congradulation to our teachers but also parents who model what it means to give back to your school and community. It is well deserved.

ASB:

Athletics: Playoffs ahead!

Athletics is a very complex programit's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations, but does not delve into athletic operations. Please bookmark that site so you can access it later. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.

Spring Banquets: So many have been highlighted and have happened over the last few weeks, but we still have some to go.

Softball and Baseball are May 15!

Congratulations to our HSSA Scholar Athletes, who are high-achieving students on and off the field. They had a fantastic celebration, with all the athletes around the county celebrating with one another.

The playoff schedules have started, and on Saturday Night, we will get the schedule on what team is going and coming and where we need to be all week.

ROTC:

-May 3 – SDUSD Joint Brigade Pass-In-Review

-May 5 – Tierrasanta Village tech support volunteers

-May 14 – Area Manager’s Inspection (Administrative review)

-May 17 – Kiwinis Patriots Day Parade

IMIN After and Before School Programs:

I often discuss our after-school and before-school programs and hear comments like, "I didn't know you had that?" I want to ensure you know that students can do many things here, which helps them feel connected. We also offer student experiences, including field trips, visits with industry professionals, driver's education, and more. Please take a look at this site and review it. We are also working on balancing things for the AM because of athletes, etc, since they are away at games and other students have jobs. Below is a picture of only one part of the front page.
