Happy Sunday Serra High!
WASC was a huge success. The committee was the same as before I was principal and said that in their opinion the school has made tremendous gains in such a short amount of time and is now offering stellar programs and is also seeing great success including high graduation rates, higher testing scores, and increasing enrollment. Mostly though they said after talking to every group that it is a student centered school and people want to come and learn and work here.
That is a massive compliment from a team like that. I want to thank everyone that was asked to participate including our WASC teaching committee staff who wrote everything needing to be submitted (a small books worth!) led by Tonia Brooks Math Teacher! We could not of done it without her.
Athletics is starting! Games are coming! and SHS staff is ready to go and are so excited for it. Athletes are doing an amazing job complying with COVID protocols!
Reopening of School
Teachers and educator have all received the information they need to sign up to get vaccinated and have had their appointments. This is the first step in getting more students back on campus. While thats all the details I have right now it is good to see the County prioritizing this so we can open school. More to come on this in the following weeks.
AP Testing
A tentative schedule has been planned for our exams this year! Here are the details:
3 Exams will be held on campus: AP Calculus, AP Statistics, and AP Spanish Language. The testing dates and times are the following (details will be provided for students when it gets closer to the exam):
CALC-MONDAY, MAY 24 AT 8AM.
STATS-TUESDAY, MAY 25 AT 12PM.
SPANISH-FRIDAY, MAY 21 AT 8AM.
ALL other exams will be online and students can elect a test date from College Board’s Test Administration dates to test online.
The last date to request a test refund is March 1. Have your student contact AP Testing Service.
