American Sign Language:

ASL was super busy this week doing amazing things in the classroom.

Last week, students completed a BOOK REPORT from one of the volumes in my visually-centric library, which has books on art, photography, infographics, and the like.

For each day of the week, students had 20 minutes with their books.  On Friday, they wrote and signed about what they learned and how the visual information was presented.  All the students took the project seriously and allowed themselves to fall into a paper book.  The photos attached show some of those quiet moments when these digital natives disconnect and read a paper book. Then, they were able to translate it for the class.

Theater:

San Diego Unified participated in theatre workshops sponsored by La Jolla Playhouse teaching artists and also got to see the opening number from our upcoming musical, Be More Chill. See the musical Feb. 20,21,22,27,28 & March 1 at 7 pm!

FAFSA/Dream ACT

San Diego Unified School District is hosting workshops to help students complete the FAFSA/Dream Act Applications.  The FAFSA/DREAM ACT is a free government form that students can use to apply for college or career school financial aid. The FAFSA can help students determine eligibility for grants, scholarships, work-study programs, and loans. Workshops provide one-on-one assistance and guidance. Students can pre-register to guarantee one-on-one guidance, but walk-ins are also welcomed.

Scholarships:  We also always have all or other scholarships posted under counseling on our website, and you can see that here:https://canyonhillsrattlers.wixsite.com/website-4
