This is your need to know:
Taking Care of Business is still on Wednesdays only.
Our start time starting on Monday April 12th, 2021 is 8:45. This is 5 minutes earlier than we have been doing all year. This is our official start time moving forward into future years. Please make note of this for Monday.
A-L is Monday and Tuesday and M-Z is Wednesday and Thursday. Fridays teachers agreed to do 30 minutes of live contact but all students will be at home most teachers will be teaching the entire time.
College Courses: If your child has Assigned Time Home or CCAP classes they can come and study in the Media Center during those periods.
Period 1 and 3 they will not be required to be on campus
Once they exit campus they can not return
5. If you have selected onsite learning you need to understand the following and know that you child will receive this form to bring home and sign on their first day.
6. You are only allowed to show up on your assigned day. We can not have cross-contamination for contract tracing purposes. You will be called immediately if they show up on the wrong day...please do not create this extra work for us......its going to be very busy.
7. We will be directing your student to the proper buildings for their classes especially our ninth graders---and 10th. However they MUST know the room numbers please look on PowerSchool and provide this to your child.
What your child will need to know: This will be reviewed with them on the first day of their return also we have created a one-pager for your child and family:
Room numbers and teachers for all periods--we can not print hundred of schedules...please look it up and write it down for you child.
Clear Pass on Phone--link is center on SHS website for ease. If they fail we get an immediate email...they are NOT to come to school but stay home and log on as they have been doing. Once you fill it out it asked for an email to send the information......you do not need to fill that out as you will be showing it to your teachers. Please do not send it to me as Im already getting them and its filling my inbox. Please also screenshot the results for easy access.
Go directly to Period 1
All students must stay for office hours at the end of every period
Students can not congregate under any circumstance indoors or out
Our hallways have been approved as large enough for direct transition from class to class but students must keep moving.
Must exit immediately after period 3 and grab and go lunches will be available.
Students must/can bring:
Mask: worn at all times
Computer
Headphones if they have them
Charger for computer
Personal water bottle if wanted
NO FOOD
We will help your children every step of the way......its going to be amazing! No need to worry.
PE/Zero Period PE:
Please have your students wear appropriate attire as they will not be changing in the locker room into PE clothes. Also please make sure they are wearing proper footwear if they have PE.
If you have Zero Period PE---please show up and get dropped off in the North Lot/Staff Lot on the Home Side of the Stadium. Pull up near ticket booth and drop your child. The PE teacher will be there to greet you. IF you cant find it drop at the front but we will have signs directing to North Lot. Once you figure it out once you will be good and we will help direct you. Dont worry.
Athletics:
Students have 45 minutes to leave after period 3 and return for Athletics---that means they need to go home and change as they will not be provided an area to do so.
Celebrations/Awards!!!!
"Some BIG CONGRATULATIONS are in order. Three of our students have been chosen as recipients of 2021 SDUSD VAPA Spotlight Awards!!
Senior Musical Theatre student ASA HORPAYAK has won a Creative Leadership award this year. Asa has consistently set an example for all theatre students to follow, excelling in acting, singing, and dancing. Having so many talents can make one seem an imposing figure, but Asa consistently shares those skills with beginners in our theatre program - becoming a mentor figure to both freshmen AND upperclassmen who are just getting their feet wet in the theatre world. Please congratulate Asa!
Senior Orchestra (violin) and Musical Theatre Pit Band (piano) musician GLORIA PARK is being honored with an Artistic Growth award. Gloria holds the special distinction of being the first ever STRING ORCHESTRA student from our school to receive a Spotlight Award (we have had band, theatre, and guard students recognized - but never string students. Until now!). Give her some congratulations!
Junior Marching Band Drum Major KATE CHASIN is also being honored at this year's Spotlight Awards - she will receive a Creative Leadership award. This distinction is very special for the school as it will be the third year in a row that the drum major from our marching band has been recognized for a spotlight award - and each in a different category (Liam Schoel was honored with an Artistic Growth award last year, Kelly Hatfield received an Artistic Achievement award in 2019, and now Kate continues this amazing streak with a Creative Leadership award). Please give Kate some congratulations!
These awards are a big deal. Only a dozen or so people (students, teachers, administrators AND community members) win them each year. I'm so proud of all of these amazing students."
We are SO proud of them!
