Job Fair, Pep Rally, Driver's Ed, VAPA, and one more week to go!

Writer: Dr. RenfreeDr. Renfree

Hello Rattler Nation--

Don't forget: The Friday before Spring Break is the end of the grading period. Please make sure you are checking the Parent Portal so you can encourage your children to finish strong. Also, as a reminder, if your student's teacher has not updated grades, please send an email to them and cc the AP over that subject area.

Nicholas Willis: nwillis@sandi.net: Math, Science, ROTC, World Language

YY Liew: yliew@sandi.net: English, History, PE, VAPA

Erica Renfree: erenfree@sandi.net: CCTE: Pathway courses

You and your child have a right to know where they stand. We hold our teachers to expectations, and grading on time is one of them.

Pep Rally:

We had a great Pep Rally today, and pictures and videos will be included in next week's blog as we accumulate them. We look forward to the dance tomorrow, which is from 7 to 10 p.m.

Job Fair:

We also had a large turnout for our job fair, where many students walked away with 17.00-an-hour jobs. Here are some pictures:

New Softball Field Opens:

We also had our first home game on our new softball field. The women were so stoked and it was amazing to be able to provide this to them. A HUGE shout out to Jonn Pisapia because without him, none of that would have been possible!

Honor Band Selections are out, and we are dominating the Music Scene.

It's a huge honor and accomplishment, and we want to ensure that they are recognized for it as much as possible.

SPIRIT WEEK!

There were so many kids dressed out. Today was class color day, and we, as an Administration, got into finding outfits that incorporated all the colors! Mr. Liew always goes above and beyond, and the kids love it. Here are some of his outfits:

Driver's Education: NOW in the morning as well.

We had fantastic feedback about our Driver's Ed program, which has filled every time we offer it. However, it was only in the afternoons. We heard from parents and students that AM might be better, so we are opening it up then. This way, if your students are doing activities after school, they can not have a conflict.

I want to share that we are now offering a six-week Drivers Ed class in the morning before school. The class will begin on April 8th and run from 7:45 to 8:40 AM on Tuesdays and Thursdays. This class is specifically for students who cannot participate in the after-school session due to other commitments. Please encourage interested students to sign up with Mr. G in the counseling office.

Saturday School is Back: Semester 1 absences and tardies roll into Semester 2.

Students receive academic support, clear six tardies/ absences (improve citizenship), and clear tardies and absences to attend a school function.

ASB:

 Athletics:

Athletics is a very complex programit's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.

Congratulations to Volleyball for Winning their tournament!

IMIN After and Before School Programs:

I talk a lot about our after and before-school programs, and I always hear things like, "I didn't know you had that?" I want to ensure you know there are many things here to do for students and make them feel connected. We also have experiences for students such as field trips, people in the industry, driver ed., and more. PLEASE look at this site and check it out. We are also working on balancing things for the AM because of athletes, etc, since they are away at games and other students have jobs. Below is a picture of only one part of the front page.
