Happy Veterans Day, Rolling in the Holidays, Friday is a Minimum Day!

Rattler Nation!

Its Fall! We are coming in the week before Thanksgiving. There is no school today for Veterans Day, and there is no school, and we want to thank all our servicemen and women who are serving and have served. As the daughter of a Veteran and coming from a long line of servicemen, I know the sacrifices made by the whole family. My father served 37 years, my uncles served 20, my grandfather and my great grandfather and even before that served!

Upcoming Blog:

I always send the blog out on Fridays--even before a holiday-- to get you up to date on the return to school! Then, when it comes to the end of the break, you are already in the know!

Radium Girls was a HUGE Hit!

Nicole Cantalupo, our new Theater Teacher, knocked it out of the park for her first show!

The students did a fantastic job, and the place was packed all three nights!

Gifts for the Holidays! CHHS Logo items!

Did you know we have a store where you can buy and design CHHS items? This is an excellent opportunity to give during the holidays.

We also have blankets to buy in time for Christmas!

Use this QR code to order as well.

Looking Ahead: Half Day! FRIDAY!

Please note: Looking ahead, we have a minimum day, November 17th, 2023, with dismissal at 1:30. They are all also on the CHHS website for your planning.

Saturday School: The only way to get credit is to come to Saturday School. You can not do things outside of school and get credit. Students are racking tardies up. Please check PowerSchool.

AP Test Purchasing: LAST WEEK

Dear Parents: We lost almost 200k last year. That's two more teachers and supplies!

We ask everyone to utilize the parent portal to complete the federal survey. Please click the QR code below to complete the “2023-24 Impact Aid Program Survey Form.” This survey is very helpful for our school to receive federal funding based on those families that live on federal property, including military housing. If you need assistance with your parent portal, please get in touch with Ms. Rosa at rpenamoya@sandi.net. I appreciate your support.

Saturday School: The only way to get credit is to come to Saturday School. You can not do things outside of school and get credit. Thanks.

Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION--PLEASE GO TO https://chrattlers.com/. All athletic packets can be uploaded and handed in this way. You do not need to come in and drop them off. The game this upcoming Friday is against Hoover High at Hoover, and all our games are listed in the Athletic Weekly below.

Playoffs:

Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a whole separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.

Tutoring:

Counselors:

Counselors and Mr. Liew will continue to host College and FAFSA/Dream Act workshops on Wednesdays during lunch in the Media Center until the end of November.

Taylor Britt, the SDSU Admissions representative, is hosting office hours on Zoom for our parents and students. Please look at the flyer.

AP Test Purchasing:

Parents and middle/high school-aged teens are invited to attend San Diego Military Family Collaborative's, "What I Wish My Parents Knew" forum scheduled for December 5th from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM here at Canyon Hills! More information in the flyer, and feel free to register here: https://forms.gle/mxEn3deMTtaseuB8A What I Wish My Parents Knew is an Action Team of the San Diego Military Family Collaborative intended to gather and collaborate on community-focused efforts to support the military-connected community through parent/youth forums on safety, health, and wellness.

Booster Clubs are created by each "Class Of" to raise funds to create unforgettable experiences for your students. Items include caps for graduation, prom ticket prices lowered, organizing Grad Night, and having fundraisers to pull this off. They work very hard and need your support. Please go to your student's "Class Of" website and join the registry to stay up to date on all things going on with your student's graduating class.
