Hello Rattler Nation-

We want to remind you that this weekend is a three-day weekend with Monday off. We also want you to remember why we have this day as you reflect on what it means to you and your families.

New Classes Offered Next Year, all thanks to the 4x4:

We are starting to roll out new courses for next year because we are now on a 4x4, which offers more options for our students. While only certain grades have options for these courses, each grade level saw new things. Check out these courses:

College Visit: Grand Canyon University

GCU came and presented to students, and the room was packed, and 30 kids were really interested in visiting and seeing what it has to offer. Please read the Counselor Connection below for events like these!

Leader in Me:

LIM met to start planning for next year, not only for our ninth graders, but also to empower all students to take an active, vocal approach to their school and what they want it to be!

Canyon Hills Girls' Basketball is Killing it! Come see them in action tonight!

The Lady Rattlers are 15-3 overall and ready to defend the home court!

Saturday School

TAX Write off???? YES, Please:

Few Reminders:

Semester 1 absences roll over in Semester 2.

Saturday School is not every Saturday. You have been receiving letters via email, and students have been sent additional reminders, with more to follow. If you are a senior, we also had a Senior Contract that was reviewed in class and signed by you.

Please make sure you sign up so you know your child is eligible not only for school activities but also for PROM!

HOW IT WORKS: There is a link with a date (see below). The link opens on WEDNESDAY before Saturday. It begins on that day because we need to staff it appropriately. Years ago, we opened it on Mondays, and many students signed up, but they never showed up. Then the staff showed up, and we had to send them home.

If you do not maintain proper attendance, you will start losing privileges if your attendance is not recorded correctly and cleared. Sign up below to view the following dates and mark your calendar.

Counseling:

Semester 2 Has Begun!!

  • Semester 1 grades are now final, which means everyone is starting fresh with a clean slate. This is a new opportunity to refocus, set goals, and put forth your best effort. Take advantage of this fresh start and make Semester 2 your strongest yet!

Night School Session 4 has started!

  • If you are interested in retaking an A–G course (Math, Science, English, History, or P.E.) where you earned a D or F, please see your counselor ASAP

Driver's Ed continues in Room 207 on Mondays & Wednesdays

  • This 6-week course will teach students the essential skills and knowledge needed to become safe, responsible drivers.

  • Classes will be held on Monday and Wednesday after school from 3:45 to 5:00 pm in Room 207. Don’t miss this chance to prepare for your driving test and gain confidence on the road!

SENIOR PARENTS — Your children need your help. CHHS has been sending email after email about helping your children fill out their college applications, and we offer support every Wednesday in addition to individual help. Please have them come and not wait. In addition we have multiple times a week CALSOAP to fill out their FAFSA. Many seniors are not using these resources and have not applied to any colleges! In addition, they are missing out on a ton of scholarships. Here is what we have been sending them:

Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION- chrattlers.com

Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a separate school altogether. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations, but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.

The AW Weekly: This lets you know about all the home games happening around campus, so your students can get involved, whether cheering on their friends or participating directly. Your family can also come out and support you.
