ASB Brings the Week of Wonder to Life at Canyon Hills

As we head into the final stretch before Winter Break, our Associated Student Body (ASB) students have been hard at work preparing a joyful and inclusive Week of Wonder for our campus community. This week has been all about behind-the-scenes planning, creativity, and student leadership—setting the stage for festive lunchtime activities that bring our school together.

Lunchtime Week of Wonder Activities

Next week, students can look forward to a variety of engaging and lighthearted activities designed to celebrate the season and strengthen campus connections:

  • Gift-Wrapping Games Students will test their holiday instincts in “Guess What’s Inside?”—a gift-wrapping mystery challenge where they try to identify unusual or funny objects hidden inside wrapped boxes.

  • ree
  • “Nailed It: Gift Wrap Edition” Inspired by the hit TV show Nailed It!, students will attempt to wrap awkwardly shaped items to match a perfectly wrapped example. The results are always creative, sometimes impressive, and guaranteed to be entertaining.

  • Holiday Karaoke Contest A lunchtime favorite, this contest gives students the chance to take the stage and sing their favorite festive songs—bringing laughter, school spirit, and some impressive talent to the quad.

  • Holiday Lip Sync Battle (Class Competition): Classes will compete in an energetic Lip Sync Showdown, with the winning class earning a $100 prize and significant bragging rights.

  • Snow Machine & Photos with Reggie the Rattler ASB’s new snow machine will transform the quad into a mini winter wonderland, complete with photo opportunities featuring Reggie the Rattler dressed in holiday gear.

  • Holiday Ornament Decorating & Holiday Grams. Throughout the week leading up to Winter Break, students will have the opportunity to decorate their own holiday ornaments and send Holiday Grams—sharing kind messages and spreading cheer across campus.

Spreading Cheer Beyond the Quad

ree

In addition to planning campus-wide events, our ASB students took time to spread holiday cheer in our ESN classes. Through games, gingerbread house building, and shared activities, students built friendships and created meaningful moments that reflect the inclusive spirit of Canyon Hills.

Spirit Week: December 15–19

To keep the excitement going, ASB is also hosting a Winter Spirit Week, encouraging students and staff to participate each day:

  • Monday – Winter Wonderland: Wear white “snowy” clothes

  • Tuesday – Once Upon a Tuesday: Dress as your favorite Disney character or wear Disney gear

  • Wednesday – Campus Craze: Show off your college gear

  • Thursday – Anything But a Backpack Day: Bring your items in something creative

  • Friday – Festive Friday: Holiday outfits, Santa hats, ugly sweaters, or festive pajamas

Through thoughtful planning, creativity, and service, our ASB students continue to build school spirit and create joyful experiences that bring our community together. The Week of Wonder is a celebration of student leadership—and a perfect way to head into Winter Break at Canyon Hills.

Packed & Ready to Cook

Our first cooking class was a whole house! Twenty students jumped right in and made the session a fun, hands-on experience—learning new skills while cooking delicious Thai food. The energy, teamwork, and enthusiasm were a great example of student engagement beyond the classroom.

Holiday Hat Contest

Students showed off their creativity in this year’s Holiday Hat Contest, designing fun, festive, and completely original hats. From imaginative themes to standout decorations, participants brought their best holiday spirit. Several students took home exciting prizes, and the event added a bright, joyful moment to our campus as we head into Winter Break.

Few Reminders:

Saturday School--ONLY ONE left this year!!! Semester 1 absences roll over in Semester 2.

Saturday School is not every Saturday. You have been receiving letters via email, and students have been sent additional reminders, with more to follow. If you are a senior, we also had a Senior Contract that was reviewed in class and signed by you.

Please make sure you sign up so you know your child is eligible not only for school activities but also for PROM!

HOW IT WORKS: There is a link with a date (see below). The link opens on WEDNESDAY before Saturday. It begins on that day because we need to staff it appropriately. Years ago, we opened it on Mondays, and many students signed up, but they never showed up. Then the staff showed up, and we had to send them home.

If you do not maintain proper attendance, you will start losing privileges if your attendance is not recorded correctly and cleared. Sign up below to view the following dates and mark your calendar.

Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION- chrattlers.com

Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a separate school altogether. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations, but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.

The AW Weekly: This lets you know about all the home games happening around campus, so your students can get involved, whether cheering on their friends or participating directly. Your family can also come out and support you.
