Could we be reopening soon?


Happy Friday Serra High!

TONS of things have been happening at Serra! I'm sure many of you have seen the news and are wondering "Are we actually going to reopen?"--its a little more complicated then what the news reports. Information on this is below.


CALENDAR:


Monday: Nothing

Tuesday: Athletic Meeting Season 1 : Link on Calendar

Wednesday: SDSU Presentation and Taking Care of Business OFFICE: 9-12 and Media Center: 1-4 (book/tech issues)

Friday: Report Card Day! Yes it counts!

Report Cards are THIS Friday!

Report Cards grades are this Friday. Yes, it counts so finish strong! THIS IS HALF WAY THROUGH THE COURSE (SO LIKE A SEMESTER GRADE).


AP TEST ORDERING: Last year we had approx. 900 tests ordered TODAY: 152!!!!!!! you must order NOW even if your class is in the Spring!

COUNSELING:

FAFSA support for senior students:

Cal-Soap (https://www.calsoapsandiego.org/) is an organization we partner with each year to support students with college applications and completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

This year they will be providing their services by meeting with Class of 2021 students individually over zoom to assist them with completing their FAFSA. If you would like your student to meet with a Cal-Soap rep to complete their FAFSA please submit Cal-Soaps application here: https://ucsd.mylacai.com/apply.php

We highly recommend every student take advantage of this opportunity

If you have yet to complete your Financial Aid/Dream Act Application, please fill out the CalSoap Application to get a One-on-One meeting with a CalSoap rep to complete your FAFSA.

Attention Class of 2022 here are some amazing leadership opportunities!

CARSON SCHOLARSHIP

The Carson scholarship program is open to 11th grade students who have a 3.75 or higher GPA for the current school year and are involved in community service activities. You can find out more about this program here: https://carsonscholars.org/scholarships/

Serra High School can only nominate one student this year so we are asking for the following:

-               A 200-250 word essay describing your experiences with community service and volunteering activities and what it has meant to you.

-               You can use this form to fulfill this requirement or you can attach all documents to this form.

Nomination form and essay are due by end of day on Friday November, 13th.

FREEDOM FOUNDATION

Unfortunately, Freedom Foundation trip to Washington DC has been canceled and we are on standby to get more information on a virtual trip.

ATHLETICS:

Athletes, please remember to go online to goconquistadors.com to see information for the upcoming seasons. 

On Wednesdays, from 9am to 12pm the front office will be excepting sports physicals and confirmation paperwork.  These will still need to be collected as the school must have the original documents on file.


Class of 2021 Boosters:--ANY CLASS/FAMILY CAN PARTICIPATE--You don't have to be a Senior!
