Community Fest is Here!

Hello Rattler Nation-

With about 30 days of school left, it was a great week. The calendar will become very busy, so please keep it current. Community Fest is here; as you know, it is our biggest event of the year. The details are in our feature photo this week. It also goes out to all the schools in the cluster for distribution. Please encourage anyone you know to come and see all the great things happening here at CHHS.

Minimum Day:

Mark Your Calendars! Our minimum day is Friday, May 26th, with dismissal at 1:30.

Trade Fair:

We had an excellent Trade Fair this week, and it was attended by students who were learning about all sorts of hands-on professions!

CHHS Student Report to the Board of Education:

Annalese Parker, our ASB President, had the pleasure of speaking with the Board about CHHS. Her report was so well done that the district has asked to come and talk to more students about how awesome it is to be a Rattler and what more the BOE can do to support them! She nailed it!

Club Elevate:

Students at Canyon Hills High School developed educational materials in the form of a "Did You Know" campaign aimed at increasing awareness about the adverse effects resulting from teen marijuana use. Young people may not have the information they need to make solid decisions to protect their health. Also, teenagers may not understand the risks of getting into a car with a driver who’s been using cannabis or how using marijuana affects young people differently than it affects adults.  In partnership with Industrial Grind Coffee, Club Elevated wants to close those “knowledge gaps.” They are reminding drivers of the hazards of driving under the influence of any drug, whether it’s alcohol, marijuana, or prescription medicine. That message goes right where people see it – on their coffee cups.

LCFF (Local Control Funding Formula) Card for next year are ready to be completed. Did you know we had such a high rate of participation that we gleaned over 100k in extra funding for all students. This money goes directly to them! Please see the info below:

LCFF Data Collection for 2024-25

Effective April 19, 2024, LCFF data collection for the 2024-25 school year will be available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal to help maximize collection rates for the upcoming school year.

The LCFF Form is available in the PowerSchool Parent Portal (https://powerschool.sandi.net) for all SDUSD schools. It is important to note that parents cannot access the form when logged in with a student account.  Parents must use their own portal accounts to log in and submit the LCFF Form. Job aids are available in EnglishSpanish, and Vietnamese to help parents complete this form.

If you need assistance with your parent portal account, you can email Ms. Rosa Penamoya at rpenamoya@sandi.net. I appreciate your support.
