Hello Rattler Nation,

What a wonderful sunny week we had here at CHHS. Weather is exciting at schools and, believe it or not, influences behavior as well. Students have been having fun and participating in many activities. This week brought athletic games, more filming of our lip dub, and Principal's Coffee. In addition, ROTC has been everywhere, it seems, and so many events are coming up. This was them performing on the MIdway. Check out their section below:

Here is the link: Principal's Coffee APR

Here is the video: Principal's Coffee APR

May's Principal's Coffee will be longer than usual as we have so much to do before the last day of school.

Here are some things you may want to pay attention to:

ASB:

***NOTE: Powderpuff was moved one day due to so many sports that Friday. The video was made before the change:

Powderpuff:

PowderPuff has been moved to Saturday, April 26th at 5 pm. Tickets are only $5, and all proceeds go to the class of 2025.

ASB has started weekly videos previewing the following week. It's a "blog" for students from students. We have been waiting years for students to realize that engaging peer-to-peer has a tremendous influence on campus. While my Blog is for you as community members, this is all about students. Check it out:

Week of April 14th, 2025:

Student Schedules for Next Year! Please follow the directions.

A notification went out to students in several ways about looking at their course requests, and we opened the portal for your students to see. The students then started talking, and there were concerns that they believed this was their actual schedule. It has no periods or teachers on it. It is only confirming the course selections they made.

The change schedule link is provided to you now rather than right before school starts. If you want to change, it has to happen now, as we have already offered two other opportunities. We hope to have actual schedules for you by the end of the year, but we can't do that if people change things at the last minute. We hire teachers based on these requests. In years prior we have opened it abut 48 hours before school starts. We are doing this now to be even more proactive than before. Please help us get your students on their schedules before they leave in June.

***DO NOT EMAIL YOUR COUNSELOR WITH YOUR REQUEST. PLEASE COMPLETE THIS FORM WITH YOUR REQUEST AND QUESTIONS.***

If you would like to request a course change, please submit the following Google form by Monday, April 14th, at 3:30.

***COUNSELORS WILL ONLY REVIEW COURSE REQUEST CHANGES FROM GOOGLE FORM AND WILL MEET WITH STUDENTS IF THERE’S A CONFLICT WITH THEIR REQUEST *****

Calendar: We have fantastic incentives for 11th graders who take testing seriously. We have Math this upcoming week and English and Science in the following weeks.

Monday: Nothing

Tuesday: We are presenting our School Site Plan for student achievement to our SGT and SSC and will share highlights of our goals for next year with you after they have been approved.

Wednesday: Nothing

Thursday: CCAP Parent Night: This is MANDATORY. Your child will not be scheduled if you do not attend.

Friday:

Athletics:

Athletics is a very complex programit's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.

Boys Tennis:

The boy's tennis team played against Coronado and won. Both teams had great energy and displayed great sportsmanship. This is the first year having a JV team, which is only growing. Now, we have risen to the upper D2 division. We are certainly making a statement in the Tennis World. Great job, Coach Caylor!

Boy's Lacrosse:

Boys Lacrosse played Preuss, and it was a very scrappy game. Both teams played hard, but in the end, Preuss won. However, the sportsmanship from our team is far surpassed as it always does the opponent.

ROTC:

Below are some highlights and upcoming events.

IMIN After and Before School Programs:

I talk a lot about our after and before-school programs, and I always hear things like, "I didn't know you had that?" I want to ensure you know there are many things here to do for students and make them feel connected. We also have experiences for students such as field trips, people in the industry, driver ed., and more. PLEASE look at this site and check it out. We are also working on balancing things for the AM because of athletes, etc, since they are away at games and other students have jobs. Below is a picture of only one part of the front page.
