Hello Q-Nation! Tomorrow, or today (I'm late, it's Sunday not Friday...I know..) Nathan Fletcher, SD County Board of Supervisors and Supt. Cindy Marten will be hosting a student lead "Escape the Vape Summit!" When a location was needed for this summit, Serra High School was chosen for its action and strategy against vaping; all while supporting students who find themselves addicted in a restorative way that treats the root causes of substance abuse. We thank both SDUSD and Mr. Fletcher for taking the matters seriously. We look forward to students enacting their rights to feel safe at school and have it be drug free.
Here's an article on the partnership Serra High and Patrick Henry have made with the district and Mr. Fletcher. Serra is proud to announce we are about to install in every bathroom HALO vape sensors! In the last few month, Serra has made many changes to try and deter students from bring vapes to school and using them. Though we have had success we look forward to this installation and taking it another step further! We are so excited for tomorrow!

California Healthy Kids Survey---SDUSD uses this data all the time to talk about what's happening at the school...it needs to be an accurate representation....we have had low completion rate in past years.
The Cal-SCHLS survey system is the most commonly used and reliable school survey, covering topics related to school climate and student resiliency. All schools in our district take this survey. The survey is now open and we would appreciate hearing from you and your student's experience here at Serra High School. Your survey responses will support and guide our efforts and we value your input. The link is below and it only takes a few minutes.Parent survey: surveys.wested.org/csps/QM234QF. We especially need feedback from 9th and 11th grade parents! Thank you!

Counseling:
We have 12 weeks left of the school year, students are encouraged to finish the year strong by attending tutoring and showing up to all classes on time and ready to learn.
Class of 2020 students interested in attending Miramar/City or Mesa college for the next school year are encouraged to attend an orientation on April 9th at 2:30 in the Media Center to get their enrollment process started. By attending this orientation students will be guaranteed priority registration and will be meeting with a community college counselor to select their courses on an assigned day during the following week.
Are you planning on enrolling in college courses for next year at SHS?? If so, there is a mandatory meeting that you and a parent must attend in order to be eligible to take a college course starting in Fall 2020/Spring 2021. Due to the high number of students requesting college courses we have arranged to host two separate meeting nights. Students with Last names A-L must attend March 16; students with last names M-Z must attend March 18. Both meetings will be held in the Media Center and are scheduled to begin at 6:00pm. If you are not able to attend on your scheduled date you can attend on the other night. ALL STUDENTS AND PARENT MUST ATTEND, EVEN IF YOU ALREADY ATTENDED A MEETING LAST YEAR. LOTS OF CHANGES THIS YEAR!
Girls Lacrosse has games...only parent attendance is needed due to game.
