Hello Rattler Nation!

We had a beautiful and hot week here on campus. Students were getting to class, and content learning was starting. We can't wait for Open House this week, where you'll meet your students, teachers, and staff, and have the opportunity to meet with counselors and receive help with the parent portal. The picture below shows the American Sign Language class for underclassmen. They were excited to see us, and it was apparent they had already learned some things in class.

Senior Sunrise:

Seniors had a fantastic time attending the beach for Senior Sunset. This is a tradition at CHHS, and almost everyone in the Class of 2026 came out early, which means they can get up and get to school on time. Make sure you check Powerschool parents.

Friday Night BBQ:

What a Night at Canyon Hills! Last Friday, our Welcome Back BBQ and Movie Night was one for the books! The Rattler community came together for an evening filled with laughter, food, and school spirit. Over 200 burgers and 100 hot dogs were served up to students and families while the sun set over campus.

As the night went on, everyone cozied up under the stars to enjoy Disney’s Teen Beach on the big screen. From the sizzling BBQ to the fun, movie-theater-style vibes, it was the perfect way to kick off the school year.

We’re so grateful to everyone who came out—if you missed it, you’ll definitely want to mark your calendars for the next one!

Lunchtime Fun!

Lunchtime Fun is Back at Canyon Hills! Our first week of school wasn’t just about new classes—it was packed with energy at lunch! Students dove into giant games of Hungry Hippo, raced through the hilarious Candy Cane Relay (yes, even in August 🌴🎅), and soaked up the vibes with tons of music blasting across the quad.

The energy was electric, the laughter nonstop, and it set the tone for a fantastic year ahead. Canyon Hills knows how to bring the fun—can’t wait to see what’s next!

IMIN After School Program:

After School at Canyon Hills = Endless Opportunities! The first week back proved that the fun doesn’t stop when the bell rings. From clubs and activities to special events, our students had a chance to explore a variety of after-school opportunities. The highlight? A rock climbing wall right on campus—students were lining up to test their strength and have some fun! 🧗

With so much happening, there’s truly something for everyone. Be sure to check out the IMIN room and keep an eye on the daily bulletin to see what’s coming up next. You won’t want to miss out!

FOOTBALL:

We played Santana this past Friday, and though we lost, it was an excellent warm-up for the rest of the year. Our first home game is this upcoming Friday against Rock Academy.

Daily Bulletin

Stay in the Loop with the CHHS Daily Bulletin! Did you know that every morning, our students hear a Daily Bulletin over the PA? It’s how we share everything from upcoming events and club meetings to important school news.

We know most of our families aren’t on campus to hear those announcements—but don’t worry, we’ve got you covered! You can see today’s bulletin (and all past ones) anytime on the CHHS website. Just click “Bulletin” at the top of the page— or make it even easier and just CLICK HERE

Stay connected, stay informed, and never miss a Rattler update! 🐍❤️

Homecoming 2025:

Get Ready, Rattlers — HOCO 2025 is Coming! Please mark your calendars for Friday, October 3rd, because our Homecoming Dance is about to light up Canyon Hills with the theme: Viva Las Vegas!

Tickets go on sale next week, so don’t wait—this is one dance you won’t want to miss. And to kick things off, we’re throwing a pep rally that will bring all the Vegas lights, energy, and school spirit straight to campus.

From the rally to the dance floor, it’s going to be a week of unforgettable Rattler pride. Let’s make this year’s Homecoming the biggest and brightest one yet!

Commitments to you and your students:

There are many commitments we make to you as a Rattler Community. There are two I want to make sure you remember:

  1. You are entitled to your child's up-to-date grades. Please hold our staff accountable by reaching out to the teacher and asking why they may not have been updated. If the issue continues, please email the teacher and copy the proper Associate Principal.

Mr. Willis: World Language, Math, Science

Mr. Liew: English, History, VAPA, PE

  2. You are entitled to a response via email or phone within 48 hours. We are usually faster than that, but again, we need to be held accountable to respond to our community. Vacations/breaks/weekend, this rule does not apply as I, as a leader, strive for my staff to have a proper work-life balance and make sure they are committing to their own families as well as yours.

Counselors:

Counselors are here to help you! Your students ask to see their counselor by going to the CHHS website and clicking on the "Counseling Tab"-then, they click on their counselor to fill out the form. Counselors will then call them to the office. The days when I was in high school, waiting in the Counseling Office, are behind me. This is much more streamlined today. However, in emergencies, you are welcome to come in. "I want to pop in and ask a question during the passing period:" of course! Here's what the page looks like:

Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION- chrattlers.com

Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a separate school altogether. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations, but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.

The AW Weekly: This lets you know all the Home Games that are happening around campus, so your students can get involved, whether cheering on their friends or participating directly. Your family can always come out and support as well.

Dear School Partners & Staff,

We're excited to share our Alcohol, Tobacco, and Other Drugs (ATOD) Resource Directory for 2025–2026!

This directory is designed to support educators, counselors, and parents/guardians in guiding young people who are affected by or at risk for substance use. Inside, you’ll find up-to-date information on treatment options, local programs, and practical tools to help navigate these challenges with care and confidence. All links, phone numbers, and contacts have been pre-vetted and are local to the regions we serve.

Whether you're revisiting the directory or exploring it for the first time, we hope it continues to be a valuable resource—and one you’ll share with your students, colleagues, and families.
