Hello Rattler Nation:
The first week back was great, and it's been beautiful weather, so kids are out and about, happy, and the campus visually is starting to come together.
Wheelchair Tennis: Kaiya is Crushing it!
Kaiya played in two different divisions at the Cajun Classic tournament, Coed C’s for both singles and doubles, as well as in the juniors division. She placed second in the junior division among the nation's top juniors. Besides playing in the tournament, she participated in a junior clinic with Team USA coaches and coaches from different universities. Throughout the tournament, she and her parents were approached by four universities to discuss potential scholarships and recruitment opportunities: the University of Arizona, Clemson University, the University of Houston, and San Diego State University. Kaiya also had the opportunity to speak with the head coach from Team USA. They, as well as I, are very excited to see Kaiya grow and develop as a player.
Here are some of the highlights:

Major Event this Upcoming Week: Trade Fair and Testing

ASB:

Seniors:

Calendar: If your child needs SATURDAY SCHOOL, please see below.

Monday Through Saturday
Monday | Nothing |
Tuesday | Testing Starts |
Wednesday | Trade Fair and Testing |
Thursday | SGT (staff) |
Friday | Nothing |
Saturday | Sat School |
Semester 1 absences roll over in Semester 2.

HOW IT WORKS: There is a link with a date (see below). The link opens on WEDNESDAY before Saturday. It begins on that day because we need to staff it appropriately. Years ago, we opened it on Mondays, and many students signed up, but they never showed up. Then the staff showed up, and we had to send them home.
If you do not maintain proper attendance, you will start losing privileges if your attendance is not recorded correctly and cleared. Sign up below to view the following dates and mark your calendar.
Counseling:

Hello Parents:
As we approach the final weeks of the school year, the Counseling Department would like to share a few important updates. The last session of Extended Day starts on Monday, April 13 to May 15th. This program provides students with a valuable opportunity to remediate core courses in which they have earned a D or an F and work toward improving their grades.
Additionally, on Wednesday, April 15, during lunch, the CHHS Counseling Department will be hosting a Trade Career Fair in front of the Media Center. This event will give students the chance to explore career pathways in the trades, connect with industry representatives, and learn about employment opportunities or enrollment in trade programs.
We are in the home stretch of the school year—please encourage your students to stay focused, take advantage of these opportunities, and finish strong.
ALL THINGS COUNSELING:
Enrollment Support for Class of 2026 Seniors
Miramar College representatives will be on campus to assist graduating seniors who plan to attend San Diego Community College District schools (Miramar, Mesa, or City College) next year. These Enrollment 101 workshops will provide hands-on support with the college application, financial aid (FAFSA or Dream Act), San Diego Promise, and academic planning. Students will also receive guidance on setting up their college portal and mapping their first semester with a counselor. These workshops are designed to ensure students are fully prepared for a smooth transition to college.

Athletic: ALL ATHLETIC INFORMATION- chrattlers.com
Athletics is a very complex program. It's like running a separate school altogether. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events, pictures, and celebrations, but doesn't delve into the operations of athletics. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state.
The AW Weekly: FOR TWO WEEKS! This lets you know about all the home games happening around campus, so your students can get involved, whether cheering on their friends or participating directly. Your family can also come out and support you.

See you next week!
