Holiday Break Approaching!

Writer's picture: Dr. RenfreeDr. Renfree

Hello Rattler Nation,

We are approaching the holiday and have some fun things going on. We had a great week this past week. Above is the UNOFFICIAL Senior Class Photo. As you can see in the photo, they were so excited and happy and had many poses taken. It's hard to believe we are so close to the end of the first semester. We have spirit week, movie night, and more below, so we go out with a bang for the much-needed break.

Reminder: We are starting to see an uptick in behavior in the Town Square. I have been called a few times to go over, and they are a mix of MS, HS, and charter school students. Please be aware that when you allow your child to go there, often there are behaviors happening (simple to serious) that you are having them exposed to. We want to support our business in the community, but this is not how we do that.

SPIRIT WEEK! Here we go!

College Signing Day: Many of our amazing athletes participated in National Signing Day to secure their spot at the college of their choice for Athletics. We are so proud of them and their commitment to continuing on their journey, and we are also thankful to the colleges that have acknowledged their potential.

Fall Sports are NOT over! Come support Cross Country tomorrow!

Winter Sports Parent Night: If your child is playing, please come so you know what is going on and also the norms and requirements to make this season the best.

Students engaged in events such as Leader in Me and chose their next year's courses this week!

Calendar: The rest of November!!!

Monday: Nothing

Tuesday: SSC in the AM and Musical Auditions

Wednesday: 8th graders from DePortola come to check us out!

Thursday: 8th graders from Farb come to check us out. Early Out

Friday: Nothing

Federal Survey Cards: FSC:

Federal Survey Cards can now be filled out online on PowerSchool. I want parents to complete the Federal Survey Form.

Dear Parents:

The federal survey form is now available for you to complete online on the Parent Portal. Click HERE for the Link.  If you are asking why, you should fill out this form. Please know that these funds are designated to assist our district, which has federally connected students. Many of our students (Canyon Hills) are federally connected based on where they live or where their parents work. This form becomes part of the district’s general operating budget and supports instructional activities for ALL STUDENTS.

If you have any questions about the form or how to access the parent portal, please contact Ms. Rosa at rpenamoya@sandi.net or 619-605-8100 ext. 3029. Thank you in advance for your support. We will also follow up via email and phone to ensure a high percentage of connections.

Sincerely,

CHHS Administration

Saturday School is Back: November 16th, 2024, is next.

Students with absences and tardies must make them up in Saturday school. Failure to do that starts excluding them from things like Homecoming, Prom, Senior Activities, etc. FIRST SEMESTER ABSENCES AND TARDIES carry over to Semester 2, so they must be made up now. Teachers are lenient for late students due to construction; however, if your child is still tardy, please discuss why everyone else can get there but your students still can't, even with all the grace given.

Saturday School Signups are here:

ROTC: There are so many events we can't keep up with! Here's the lineup for November!

  1. The Holiday Food Drive Begins!

We will kick off the Holiday Food Drive from November 1st until December 2nd! Working with ASB, we will be hosting this food drive and are looking for support from cadets, other Canyon Hills students, and Tierrasanta community residents. We ask that everyone donate bags of rice, canned goods, and other non-perishable items. We are happy to help those in need, and here is our chance to show it this holiday season!

Club Rush:

Upcoming events:

  • 11/15 – Possible Color Guard support for a Navy retirement ceremony aboard USS Midway

  • 11/20 – NJROTC cadet presentation to Tierrasanta Kiwanis Club

Athletics is a very complex programit's like running a separate school. While I can highlight a few things here, you must check that website daily and contact the proper coaches. This blog highlights sporting events with pictures and celebrations but doesn't get into the operations of athletics. Please bookmark that site so you have it. CHHS has one of the most extensive programs in the county and state. We post an athletic weekly every week right here, and it is ONLY for home games.
