Dear Serra High School Community--
Another year is in the books. It was an incredible ride and we are so amazed and humbled by the amazing kids in this senior class.
My staff works day in and day out trying to make things as smooth as possible for you and your students. Many times Serra High comes before our own families. There are times we get it right and times we reflect about how to improve. We want you to know that we can't do it without you. It really takes a village to raise a child.
What an amazing day we had today. Senior students came and had an amazing lunch followed by a very smooth rehearsal.
We look forward to next year and please tell any 8th grade parents to subscribe as information will be coming out throughout the summer in this blog and in US Mail.
Here is the last information you need to finish strong Class of 2019.

The class of 2019 worked in collaboration with the administration to come up with rules and procedures for this historic event. Please, carefully review the following with your graduate.
GRADUATION CAP RULES
Please take into consideration the following rules when decorating your graduation cap. Failure to follow these rules will result in the removal of the cap before the ceremony. If the staff can not clearly identify what is being said on your cap, it will be taken. This is a great opportunity to express yourself in the moment you've been waiting for. Don't embarrass yourself or your family.
Some ideas of what you CAN put on your cap are:
Thank a parent, grandparent, teacher, friendRecognize the university you will be attendingYour graduation yearBranch of the military you will be joining
Some things your cap CAN’T obtain:
Cannot contain any advertisement, symbols, abbreviations, initials, words, slogans, patches, or pictures that: Refer to drugs or controlled substances, tobacco, alcohol, or weapons or be of a sexual nature. Cannot denote an affiliation with gangs or which advocate drug use, violence, illegal activity, or disruptive behavior which is detrimental to the safety and welfare of other students.Cannot be obscene, profane, vulgar, or lewd.Cannot include numbers other than the graduation year. Cannot threaten the safety and welfare of any person. Cannot make noise. No bells, horns, or anything that makes noiseCannot have any acronyms, initials, codes, etc.
Only the flat, top area of the cap may be decorated. There may be nothing hanging down from any of the sides of the cap. We suggest that you practice on a piece of paper first and then stencil it on to your cap. If you mess up you will not be given another one. You can also decorate a piece of cardboard the size of the cap and tape it onto the cap using double sided tape or Velcro.
